Hello! I'm Dan.

Professionally, I'm a scientist at heart (undergraduate biochemistry degree, graduate pharmacy degree) who enjoyed a terrific career as a corporate purpose executive, water steward, occupational health and safety practitioner, food quality and safety leader, coach/mentor, and global ambassador for the company. I also serve on several non-profit Boards and am an Honorary Professor. If you are interested, you can read more about my professional life at www.danbena.com.

Personally, my bride of 38 years and I are like a single human being. I'm a blessed son, grateful brother to three sisters, and proud father of many animal "children" with fur and feathers.
My Spiritual Story
I was proudly raised Roman Catholic, and am a product of parochial schools taught by nuns, priests, and brothers. They taught many things, among them empathy, compassion, service, and love for our human family. As I progressed through life, I became what I call a "bad example of a Catholic," but someone who tries every day to live by the Golden Rule of treating others as you would like to be treated. Today, I am a firm believer in God, but perhaps in a way that doesn't easily fit fully into any single religious dogma; rather, in a way that incorporates elements from many.

When a very close family member was dying and my wife and I were at her bedside, I saw each of that family member's brothers and sisters enter the room. The unusual thing is that they each had pre-deceased our family member, yet they appeared to me as though they were flesh and blood. They acknowledged me, and made it very clear that this passing that was about to occur was not something to dread, but to celebrate, since my relative would be joining them in something akin to a party that never ends. I call that party Heaven, others call it Nirvana, others call it a state of enlightenment or heightened consciousness, and others might describe the place as a wrinkle in the curtain of time and space. The reality, as we understand today, is that no one knows for sure what to call it, or what happens to the life force upon the physical death of a body.

For me, that event served as a key that seems to have opened the proverbial "flood gates" of communication that defy traditional explanation. Remember what I wrote above--I am a scientist and have been my entire adult life (and even had a chemistry set as a child), so looking at these experiences through a scientific lens remains both fascinating and befuddling. Based on what we know and can measure, it should not be happening, yet it does. In fact, since this event, similar events have happened to me over a hundred times, most entirely unsolicited. Because I have established such a legacy of scientific credibility and logic, those close to me who hear these stories uniformly tell me that if anyone else were telling them these things, they wouldn't believe them. Because it's me, they do.
I take that trust seriously, and these events have ignited my scientific curiosity and stoked my spiritual fire. That's why I am now committed to learning as much as I can about a range of spiritual and psychic experiences, and using this website to curate and share what I believe is worthwhile, credible (as much as can be) information for all to learn.
As a closing thought, in this totally unexpected and exciting chapter of my book of life, I have accepted the word "Spirit," like so many psychics across the globe. For me, Spirit does not sit apart from God, nor is it some insidious dark element that rails against God. Instead, Spirit exists in service to, and at the magnanimity of, God.
